Cross country teams set for Regionals

Cross country teams across Okmulgee County are gearing up for the 2025 OSSAA Regional Meets, which are scheduled for later this month. The assignments, released by OSSAA Assistant Director Lenny Hatchett, outline where each school will compete in hopes of qualifying for the State Meet. This year’s lineup places Henryetta, Okmulgee, Beggs, Preston and Wilson at various regional sites across Oklahoma, while Schulter was not listed in the assignments.

— Henryetta to host Class 3-4A Regional at Nichols Park

Henryetta High School will serve as one of four regional hosts, with Nichols Park once again providing a scenic and challenging course for competitors from across the state.

The Class 3A and 4A Regionals at Henryetta will include Henryetta, Okmulgee, Beggs and Preston, all representing Okmulgee County in this

meet.

• 9 a.m. – 3A Girls

• 9:45 a.m. – 3A Boys

• 11 a.m. – 4A Girls

• 11:45 a.m. – 4A Boys

• 1 p.m. – A Girls

• 1:45 p.m. – A Boys -A coaches’ meeting is set 30 minutes prior to the first race of each class. Teams are reminded to register runners on OK.MileSplit.com, and fans are encouraged to purchase online tickets in advance at ossaa.com.

— Beggs, Okmulgee, Preston among Regional contenders All three schools will compete in Class 3A divisions. The Henryetta regional field features a strong mix of area programs including Beggs, Okmulgee and Preston – each bringing deep, experienced lineups to the postseason.

Beggs has seen consistent performances from both its boys’ and girls’ teams throughout the season, while Preston’s squads have been led by several top finishers in recent meets. Henryetta and Okmulgee runners will look to take advantage of their familiarity with the Nichols Park terrain, which has hosted numerous meets this fall.

— Wilson assigned to Class A Regional

The Wilson Tigers will travel to Waurika for their Class A Regional, which will be held at the Waurika Football Field, located at 600 W. Anderson Street.

• 9 a.m. – A Girls

• 9:45 a.m. – A Boys

• 11 a.m. – 4A Girls

• 11:45 a.m. – 4A Boys

• 1 p.m. – 2A Girls

• 1:45 p.m. – 2A Boys -Fans planning to attend regional meets can expect tickets priced at $7 online (plus fee) or $10 cash at the gate. The State Cross Country Championships will follow in early November, with details and schedules available on ossaa.com.

Schools advancing individuals or teams to the State Meet are encouraged to submit a team photo (300 dpi) and roster for inclusion in the official OSSAA State Tournament Program, to be sent to rod.coulter@vype.com.
