A Celebration of Indigenous People
One of the events held Monday honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day was held in downtown Okmulgee, on the lawn of the Creek Council House. A little rain early didn’t deter the events with crowds gathered for a celebration of culture, heritage and food. The College of the Muscogee Nation also held events recognizing the day and the amazing culture and heritage. The Muscogee Light Horse Department was proud to take part in Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrations in both Tulsa and Okmulgee, which saw large crowds participate in the day’s activities and a parade in conjunction with the City of Tulsa and Mayor Monroe Nichols.
