A cookout for Okmulgee Community Garden members is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the gathering area under the pergolas at the garden. Hosted by the garden’s board of directors, members and their families are invited to come out and enjoy grilled ribeye steaks, hot dogs and hamburgers with all the trimmings.
“We want this to be just a fun event for our members and their families,” Kay Rabbitt-Brower, chairman of the garden’s board of directors, said. “We’re going to enjoy delicious food and friendship in our lovely garden. It’s going to be just a fun get-together.”
Rabbitt-Brower added that members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a dessert, if they would like.
“To make sure we have enough food prepared for everyone, we’re asking members to RSVP by Monday, Oct. 20,” Rabbitt Brower said. “They can call or text Bob Seebeck at 918-231-3543 or me at 918645-3880, or email us at bob.seebeck@yahoo. com or krabbittbr@aol.com. To make sure the garden is prepared for the cookout, a workday has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members are encouraged to bring their gloves, tools and anything they might need to help with cleanup. Bottled water and a light lunch will be provided.
