• The Oklahoma District Attorney collaborated with Verizon to support and promote October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, initiating a HopeLine Phone Drive. Verizon’s HopeLine program facilitated connections with shelters, offering complimentary phones and services to domestic violence victims, enabling them to safely contact their friends and family.
• Beggs Public Schools honored military veterans during the football game for Military Appreciation Night including Vincent Durney a 2008 graduate of Beggs School, and an All-District Defensive Lineman, who went on to serve in the Navy for six years.

• The Board of Directors of CREOKS Mental Health Services welcomed former Deputy Director of Psychiatric Emergency and Hospital Services of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County, Liam Mulvaney, as he assumed the position of new Executive Director of CREOKS Mental Health Services. With a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration and having over 20 years of experience in managing mental health programs, Mulvaney fit right in with CREOKS’ mission to reduce cycles of unhealthy behavior and help people develop the skills necessary to maintain a more stable, productive and overall healthier and happier life.
• The Morris Golf Association Tournament took place at Sequoyah Golf Course on Fort Gibson Lake. Hal Counts, Gary Frazier, James Wynn and Dane Watson proudly took home the first-place trophy. Everyone then started getting ready for the next tournament, set for 8 a.m. on Oct. 14 at Fountainhead Golf Course on Eufaula Lake.
