Steven Randel Riddle

March 19, 1966 – September 23, 2025

Steven ‘Steve’ Randel Riddle of Moore, went to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Oklahoma City, after a long and courageous battle with his health.

Steve was born on March 19, 1966, in Okemah, to Kathryn Henderson and Randel Earl Riddle. He lived most of his life in the Okmulgee/ Preston, area. He attended school all throughout his life in Preston, where he was a proud member of the 1982 State Champion Basketball Team. Steve was an outstanding student graduating with Honors and served as the historian of his class. He graduated from Preston High School in May of 1984.

Steve continued his education at OSUIT, earning his associate degree in Construction Management— a career path he pursued with pride and dedication. During his early adult years, he worked with his stepdad, Gus Huskey, and his uncle, Otis Huskey, building bridges across the state of Oklahoma. Then, he worked and finished his career the past 30+ years as a commercial construction inspector and tester on some of the biggest projects in the state. With him being the avid sports fan that he was, one of his favorite projects and one that he took great pride in was the NCAA expansion of the Women’s College World Series softball field now known as Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Steve and Deborah met 16 years ago; they married on May 16, 2014, in a beautiful beachside ceremony in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They have been happily married for the last 11 years.

A lifelong fan of the University of Oklahoma, Steve proudly held season tickets for 28 years, rarely missing a game. His passion for OU football ran deep, and it was matched only by his love for the Texas Rangers. Though he famously despised the Texas Longhorns, Steve never passed up a chance to visit the Lone Star State. He especially loved spending time in the Fort Worth area, taking in concerts at Billy Bob’s and dining at one of his all-time favorite spots, Joe T. Garcia’s.

Music was another great love in Steve’s life. He was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and he often enjoyed sharing their music with family and friends. Whether it was sports, music, or food, Steve approached everything he loved with infectious enthusiasm.

He and Deb lived life to the fullest, seizing every opportunity for adventure. In 2018, they traveled to Pasadena, California, for the Rose Bowl, where the Sooners faced the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff semi-finals. Although OU didn’t win that day, Steve was thrilled to experience the game and see the iconic Rose Parade in person.

In the fall of 2023, another memorable trip took them by the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon on their way to Provo, Utah, where OU played BYU. They spent a few extra days soaking in the snowcapped mountain scenery and celebrating the Sooners’ victory. While Steve wasn’t known for complimenting opposing teams, he often remarked that BYU had some of the best fans he’d ever encountered.

Steve was known for his sharp mind and quick wit—many joked he could have had a career as a stand-up comedian. He was also a fantastic cook who loved to grill for friends and family as often as possible. But above all, Steve loved God first and his family next.

One of Steve’s favorite traditions was his annual trip to Destin, Florida. He cherished those beach getaways, filled with sun, laughter, and unforgettable memories made alongside those he loved most.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother Kathryn “Kathy” Henderson Huskey; stepdad Guthrie “Gus” Huskey; biological dad Randel Riddle; paternal grandparents Grover and Neoma Riddle; maternal grandmother Flossie M. Morris; half-sister Sheri Noe; many beloved pets throughout the years, but especially two pups that were extra-special to him, Comet and Ace.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Riddle, of the home; Stepsons: Tim Tidwell and wife, Tosha, of Oklahoma City, and Cory Tidwell of Poteau; grandchildren: Taya Elaine, Maya Elizabeth and Cole Braxton Tidwell, all of Poteau; and Madalyn Faith Tidwell of OKC, sisters Randie Riddle-Case of Yukon, OK; Rhonda ‘Bubby’ McCurdy of Okmulgee, and Debbie Beckett and husband, Dennis, of Blanchard; brother Richard Huskey of Okmulgee; a special little nephew Tyler Scott Huskey of Muldrow; special little brother Jacob “Jake” Branson and wife, Kayla, of Beggs; mother-in-law Delphia ‘Ann’ Clough of Poteau; sister-in-law Doris Francis and husband, Gary Wayne, of Poteau; other nieces and nephews, cousins, an uncle and many other family members in California, and a whole host of friends and family across the country.

Friends and family visited the McClendon- Winters Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. and Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 12-6 p.m. with family visitation from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Twin Hills Baptist Church with Pastors Jerry Bogle and Scott McCullah officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Okemah.

Pall bearers will be Deon Bean, Clint Criner, Robert Franklin, Scott Helliker, Clay Lee, Gary McElroy, Rusty Perkins and Michael Rathjen.

Honorary Pall bearers are John Crenshaw, Jay Dearmore, Nolan Grayson, Kevin Gunter, Keith King, Jeremiah Jones, Rodney Marris, Troy Parrott, Steve Tabor, and Kurt Thurman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Steven’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon-winters. com
