Lady Demons strike first, but fall in heartbreaker to Keys
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Beggs Lady Demons came out swinging Thursday night, delivering the first blow and setting the tone against the Keys Lady Cougars. Destiny Chisum lit up the first inning with a booming double that drove in the opening run, giving Beggs momentum and confidence from the start.

For the first few frames, the Lady Demons matched Keys step for step. Behind Kaylynn Hamilton’s gritty performance in the circle, Beggs kept the game within reach. Hamilton gave up no hits in her outing, forcing Keys to earn every base they reached, even as walks mounted.

Beggs hitters refused to go quietly. Chisum, Abigail Harmon, and Ruby Tenison each connected for base hits, keeping the lineup alive against tough Keys pitching. Chisum’s RBI double stood as the highlight of the night, showing the kind of clutch hitting that can change games.

But in the fifth inning, the tide turned. Keys pieced together a sudden offensive surge, stringing hits and powering a late rally that broke the game open. Despite the scoreboard swing, the Lady Demons never quit, continuing to battle in the field and at the plate until the final out.

For Beggs, the night was less about the final score and more about the fight. The Lady Demons showed their ability to strike first, compete with energy, and grind through adversity. With their resilience and flashes of offensive power, this team continues to prove it has the heart to battle anyone they face.

The Beggs Lady Demons have punched their ticket to the postseason and are gearing up for regionals Oct. 2 in Dewey. After a season of grit, determination and standout performances, the Lady Demons will now turn their focus to the regional stage, where they will look to extend their run and showcase the fight that has defined them all season.
