The Henryetta Lady Knights and Warner Lady Eagles locked horns in a closely contested matchup Monday afternoon, ending in a 3-3 tie after seven innings of back-and-forth action in Warner.
Henryetta jumped ahead early thanks to the power bat of Serenity Rex, who crushed a solo home run over the left field wall in the top of the third inning to give the Lady Knights a 1-0 lead. Rex, hitting third in the lineup, had a standout day at the plate, going 1-for-2 with all three of her team’s RBIs.
Warner responded quickly in the bottom of the third. After a wild pitch allowed one run to cross the plate, Warner’s Abby Marks evened the score with a solo home run of her own to center field, making it 2-2.
The Lady Knights regained the lead briefly, but Warner’s persistence paid off again as they knotted the game at 3-3 later in the inning. Neither team would score again despite several late-inning threats.
Henryetta’s pitching staff was effective across the board. Keegan Hamric got the start and kept Warner hitless through two innings, issuing one walk. Kelsey Brandt came on in relief and was lights out, tossing three scoreless innings while giving up three hits, striking out four, and walking none.
Warner’s Marks was equally impressive in the circle, striking out nine Lady Knights and walking two over 4.2 innings. She also led her team offensively, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Offensively for Henryetta, Rex was joined by teammates Allie Davis, Kynlee Wynne, and Ailanee Hicks, who each contributed a hit. The defense remained sharp, turning a key double play during the game.
Warner collected hits from six players – Bailey Hughey, Tallon Ashmore, Paisley Patterson, Aubri Franco, and Paisley LaBounty, in addition to Marks—while also flashing the leather with a double play of their own.
The game ends as a valuable test for both squads, with Henryetta gaining momentum as they head into their next set of games.
