• Okmulgee Elementary students celebrated Native American Day, learning about the Muskogee Creek Nation. Victoria Kelly demonstrated authentic garments and discussed tribal customs. Tom Barnett then explained the Creek Stomp Dance, introducing tribal members and sharing his people’s history and traditions. The day concluded with students and staff watching Stomp Dances performed by approximately 20 tribal members.
• Eva Faye Gleason of Beggs showed off her ‘I Tackled the Times’ t-shirt after being named the inaugural winner in the 2015 ‘I Tackled the Times’ football pick contest. Gleason submitted an entry form that correctly predicted 13 of the 15 games on the ballot.

• Basketball Queen Mable Asberry was chosen as All-Sports Queen Friday night during Okmulgee High School’s Homecoming at Harmon Field. Mable’s escort was Michael Hill.
• The Okmulgee Bulldogs pulled off an impressive 26-6 win over the Broken Bow Savages, scoring a 20-point margin of victory before a large homecoming crowd. When the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Bulldogs were 3-2 overall and 2-0 in district play.
