On Sept. 8, the downtown Pocket Park in Okmulgee transformed into a galaxy far, far away, as pet lovers gathered for the annual Vets for Pets Star Trek Pet Contest. Sponsored by local businesses and organized with help from VFW Post 539, the whimsical event showcased furry companions dressed in their best scifi and Starfleet-inspired costumes. Michaele Crumpton won 1st place, while Carol Smith, Randy Mott and Goodnight placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Organizers extended heartfelt thanks to the generous sponsors who donated gift cards and prizes for the event, including Central Perk Coffee Shop, Prowess Fitness, Rotary Club, Five:7 Equipment, KW Advantage Realty and VFW Post 539.
