The Okmulgee County Farm Bureau Board of Directors proudly recognized Tim Taylor with a prestigious award at their recent County Annual Meeting, honoring his exceptional contributions to agriculture, youth development and the broader Okmulgee County community.
Each year, the Board selects an individual who has made a significant and lasting impact on agriculture and rural life in the region. This year’s recipient, Tim Taylor, was celebrated not only for his professional achievements but also for his deep commitment to the values of leadership, education and service.
Taylor undertook what many considered a monumental task when he accepted the position of agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at Okmulgee Public Schools. Restarting an agriculture education program in an urban school district was no small feat, but Taylor approached the role with vision and determination. Under his guidance, the Okmulgee FFA Chapter has experienced a dramatic resurgence, earning numerous state and national awards and securing grant funding to expand its reach.
More importantly, Taylor has transformed the program into a springboard for student success. Many young people who have come through the Okmulgee FFA program credit it as a foundational influence in their lives – helping shape their character, leadership skills and career aspirations.
Taylor’s dedication extended well beyond the classroom. He became a driving force within the Okmulgee County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) program. His leadership and energy helped propel the county’s YF&R efforts to statewide acclaim, with Okmulgee County being named both “County of the Year” and “County YF&R Committee of the Year” multiple times during his involvement.
His service and leadership eventually led to his election to the Oklahoma State YF&R Committee, where he continued to advocate for rural youth and agricultural advancement at the state level.
In recognition of this outstanding legacy, the Okmulgee County Farm Bureau presented Taylor with a commemorative plaque, honoring his years of tireless service to agriculture, youth mentorship, and the enrichment of Okmulgee County.
“It is with great joy that we presented this plaque to Tim Taylor,” said the Board in a statement. “His dedication to agriculture, youth, and our community is nothing short of inspiring.”
Leaders like Tim Taylor serve as shining examples of the positive impact one individual can make. His legacy will continue through the countless students he has mentored and the community programs he has strengthened.
