Beggs JH shuts out Henryetta, 21-0
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Beggs Junior High Golden Demons continued their unbeaten run Monday night with a dominant 21-0 shutout win over the visiting Henryetta Knights. A fast start and a suffocating defensive effort helped Beggs improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Demons set the tone early, marching 83 yards in 11 plays on the opening drive. Facing a physical Henryetta defense, Beggs converted two critical fourth downs – one on a 7-yard completion to Hunter Driver and another on a 5-yard pass to Michael Cruz. The drive was capped by a 38-yard touchdown run by quarterback Zane Long, who showcased his speed and decision-making throughout the night.

On the ensuing kickoff, Saxon Arthurs pounced on a Henryetta fumble, and the Demons were right back in business. While the following drive stalled on fourth down, Beggs controlled the clock and field position. Moments later, Long forced a fumble on defense, and Beggs recovered again – a theme of the first half as Henryetta managed just six total offensive snaps before halftime.

The Knights’ best offensive sequence came to open the second half. A 30-yard pass on third-and-long helped spark an 11-play, 55-yard drive that chewed up the entire third quarter. But Beggs held firm, stopping Henryetta on fourth down at the 25-yard line.

That defensive stand led to a momentum-swinging moment, as Long broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run just a few plays later. Henryetta’s next possession ended in another turnover when a jarring hit from Cruz knocked the ball loose and into the arms of linebacker Andrew Harvey. On the very next snap, Long sealed the game with a 49yard touchdown run – his third score of the night.

With a balanced offensive attack and a defense that gave up less than 75 yards of total offense, Beggs left little doubt in front of their home crowd.

The Demons return to action Tuesday, Sept. 30, when they travel to face Sapulpa.
