Henryetta splits doubleheader with Prague Red Devils

The Henryetta Lady Knights experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on Tuesday, splitting a hard-fought doubleheader against the Prague Red Devils at Prague. The first game ended in heartbreak, while the Lady Knights bounced back in the nightcap to secure a solid victory.

— Game 1: Heartbreaker in the 9th Henryetta fell 4-3 on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth, despite out-hitting Prague nine to seven. The game remained deadlocked at 3-3 until the very last play, when Dusti Gregory singled to drive in the winning run.

The Lady Knights got off to a fast start in the first inning, as Ailanee Hicks doubled, bringing home two runs. Prague answered in the bottom of the second, tying the game thanks to a single by Kacey Cantrell and a fielder’s choice by Hallee Elmore.

Henryetta reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth when Cialee Watkins tripled to score one run, putting the Lady Knights ahead 3-2. Prague rallied again in the bottom of the sixth, with Jaxcyn Goodnight’s single down the left-field line tying the contest at three.

On the mound, Brinley Menefee earned the complete-game win for Prague, allowing nine hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out five and walking one. For Henryetta, Keegan Hamric took the loss after pitching three and one-third innings, giving up two runs on four hits, with three strikeouts and one walk. Allie Davis started and pitched five innings, allowing three hits and two runs.

At the plate, Hicks led the Lady Knights with two RBIs on a 1-for-4 performance, while Hamric collected three hits. Watkins added two hits in four at-bats. Henryetta also turned one double play during the contest.

For Prague, hits were spread among Jalyn Goodnight, Taelyr Norman, Kacey Cantrell, Dusti Gregory, Jaxcyn Goodnight, Ainsley Auld and Hallee Elmore. Cantrell, Gregory, Jaxcyn Goodnight and Elmore each drove in one run, and the Red Devils also recorded one double play.

— Game 2: Lady Knights rebound Henryetta rebounded in style during the second game, defeating Prague 8-5. The Lady Knights jumped ahead immediately, scoring three runs in the first inning on a double by Jayleigh Easter, which drove in two, and a walk by Aubrey Taylor that scored another.

The Lady Knights added two more runs in the second inning. Easter singled down the right-field line, and Lexi Greenhaw singled to center, helping Henryetta score on a passed ball. In the third, Karsyn Goodman singled and Abigail Whitlow walked, adding two more runs and extending the lead.

Prague responded in the bottom of the third with a five-run inning on four hits. Addison Yates hit an inside-thepark home run, driving in three, while Hallee Elmore tripled for one RBI and Keira Carter singled in another.

Kelsey Brandt delivered a strong performance on the mound for Henryetta, pitching the first two innings without allowing a hit or run, striking out five. Kynlee Wynne appeared in relief. For Prague, starter Addison Yates gave up 10 hits and seven runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking four.

Henryetta racked up 10 hits in the victory. Easter led the team with three RBIs on a 2-for-3 day, while Rachael Burden went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Khloey Coates added two hits in two at-bats. For Prague, Yates drove in three runs and went 1-for-2, while Keira Carter, Elmore and a fourth player each added one hit.
