Earnest Jefferson Mc-Leland left this world too soon on August 27, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born March 28, 1955, in Bakersfield, Calif. to Robert and Iva McLeland.
Earnest is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Iva, first wife Elaine, Brother Eugene and Clifford and a sister Lucille Pounds.
Survivors include wife Carol of the home; daughter Robin Salmans and Heath, Melanie Sharp and Charles, and Brian Taylor; five grandchildren, Tristin Natalie, Lauren, Ty and Braylee; and a new great grandson, Jagger; brothers: Bob McLeland, Bill McLeland and wife Carol, Dave McLeland and wife Cathy. Sister Roberta Stevenson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Earnest proudly served his country from 1979 to 1981 in March 28, 1955 – August 27, 2025
the United States Marine Corp. After discharge, he returned to cross country truck driving, which stayed in his blood until retirement in 2016. He loved the road and all the adventures it offered. He always had a story about what he saw or the people he talked to and man he could to talk! Anybody, anywhere anytime. Earnest will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.
