Nina June (Watts) Johnson
Obituaries
September 17, 2025
Nina June (Watts) Johnson

Nina June (Watts) Johnson was born January 18, 1944, in Okmulgee to the late J.T. and Bertha Irene (Kelley) Watts. Surrounded by her family, she passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at her Morris home.

Nina was known by “Shunie,” a nickname given to her by her brother. She attended Morris Schools and was active in basketball, pep club, FHA and the annual staff. She graduated from Morris High School in 1963. Nina and Bill Johnson were married on January 23, 1965, in Okmulgee, having celebrated 60 years of marriage earlier this year. Early in their marriage, Nina worked at Rebold Manor and Randy’s Meats making onion rings. After their first son was born, she became a homemaker. She loved to watch her hummingbirds and do embroidery work. She enjoyed gardening and canning her produce, but most of all, she simply enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her family and grandkids. She would often be found doing a Sudoku puzzle, playing bingo at the Elks Lodge or at the casino.

Preceding Nina in death were her parents, brothers, J.R. Watts and wife Shirley and Lloyd Joe Johnson and wife Billie Jean and nephews, Steve Watts and Jerry Johnson.

Nina is survived by her husband, Bill Johnson, of the home; children, Kevin Johnson and wife Dailene of Morris, Darren Johnson and wife Racheal of Sperry and Tammy Jobe and husband Frank of Morris; grandchildren, Christa Johnson and Brett Marsaln, Chelsea McCullar and husband Dolton of Schulter, Baylee Hughes and husband Blake of Sperry, Clay Johnson January 18, 1944 – September 14, 2025

and fiancé Rylee Pierce of Tulsa, Mollie Foreman and husband Sam of Morris and Denver Jobe of Morris; great grandchildren, Kastin, Kimber, Kylure, Mackenzie, Brynlee, Beckett, Weston and Melvin and her brother, Joe B. Watts of Morris. Nina is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 12-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Clay Johnson, Brett Marsaln, Dolton McCullar, Sam Foreman, Blake Hughes and Justin Anderson. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Denver Jobe, Brent Smith, Jeremiah McLaurin, Kelley Anderson and Ronnie Hastey.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Nina’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mc-Clendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Nina’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
