Beggs endures blowout loss to Davenport

The Beggs Lady Demons battled at the plate on Thursday but came up short against a redhot Davenport Lady Bulldogs offense, falling 19-3 in a game that was called early.

Despite the scoreline, Beggs’ lineup showed plenty of bright spots offensively, collecting nine hits in just two innings of play. Abigail Harmon led the charge with a 2-for-2 performance, while Ruby Tenison also picked up two hits and drove in a run. Emma Trimble, Haylee Baughn, Destiny Chisum, Taytum Mills and Kayleigh Thompson each added hits to round out a balanced effort at the plate.

The Lady Demons’ biggest inning came in the top of the third when they pushed across all three of their runs. Chisum came through with a two-RBI hit, while Tenison added another run to help Beggs fight back against Davenport’s early surge. Mills also ripped a double, the only extra-base hit for Beggs.

On the bases, Beggs showed aggressiveness, turning singles into scoring opportunities and refusing to back down against a tough Davenport pitching staff.

In the circle, Kaylynn Hamilton, Mills and Thompson split time, each facing a challenging Lady Bulldogs offense that capitalized on walks and timely hits.

Though Davenport’s explosive second inning created too steep a hill to climb, Beggs’ ability to generate offense against a solid opponent was a clear takeaway. Harmon’s consistency, Tenison’s timely hitting and the team’s overall nine-hit performance highlighted the Lady Demons’ resilience and determination to compete until the end.
