The Beggs Lady Demons fastpitch softball team fell short to the Kellyville Lady Ponies in a close 7-4 matchup Monday.
Senior Destiny Chisum led the offense with a remarkable 3-for-4 effort, collecting hits in the first, fifth, and seventh innings. Her single in the opening frame tied the game at 1-1.
But it was Liz Waltrip of Kellyville who proved the difference, launching a solo homer in the third and a grand slam in the fourth that broke the game wide open. Beggs tried to rally late but couldn’t overcome the Ponies’ 14-hit onslaught.
Pitcher Kaylynn Hamilton gave a valiant effort in the circle, pitching 4.2 innings, giving up eight runs on 12 hits. Despite the loss, the Lady Demons were sharp on defense, turning two double plays and committing zero errors. Ruby Tenison added two hits, and Emma Trimble and Haylee Baughn each stole multiple bases.
