Okmulgee First United Methodist Church (FUMC) is beginning a fun, non-traditional program aimed at creating an inclusive, multi-generational worship experience for people of all ages, backgrounds and stages of their faith journey. The program, titled ‘Topsy Turvey,’ begins today, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the Rowe Family Life Center, located on 8th Street across from the Sheriff ’s Department.

According to program coordinator Danna Martin, Topsy Turvey will provide a welcoming, informal environment with creative activities, crafts, stories, songs and a shared meal to explore biblical themes, foster a sense of community and encounter Jesus in a hands-on, fun and accessible way.

“Topsy Turvey is coloring outside of the lines, regarding the church experience,” Martin said.

Martin also stated the program is designed for young families, individuals, children and adults anyone wanting a different, informal worship experience.

According to Martin, FUMC Minister Diana Northcutt will hold a story time, and there will be crafts, games, a light meal and fellowship.

Topsy Turvey will be held the second Wednesday of each month through May, and is open to anyone in the community.
