Lady Dragons roar back in slugfest win

What began as a nightmare quickly turned into a dream finish for the Dewar Lady Dragons on Thursday evening, as they erased a 10-run deficit in just one inning to claim a thrilling 23-11 win over the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs.

Despite being down 10-0 before even stepping up to the plate, the Lady Dragons responded with an offensive explosion in the bottom half of the first inning, scoring 12 runs without recording a single hit. The wild inning saw a barrage of walks, errors and heads-up base running, including a pivotal two-run error that gave Dewar its first lead of the contest.

— First Inning Fireworks

The game began in Okmulgee’s favor with a huge 10-run rally in the top of the first. Okmulgee’s offensive burst was highlighted by a dramatic insidethe- park grand slam, one of four hits recorded by the visiting team. Other Lady Bulldogs each collected one hit. Okmulgee showed patience at the plate and took advantage of early pitching struggles from Dewar starter Jaycie Berry.

Berry was tagged for eight runs (four earned) on one hit in just one-third of an inning. Despite the early trouble, Dewar’s defense limited further damage and the offense quickly responded.

— Lady Dragons Strike Back

In the bottom of the first, Dewar capitalized on multiple walks and fielding miscues from Okmulgee to plate a staggering 12 runs on no hits, completely flipping the momentum of the game.

The offensive avalanche continued into the second inning. Dewar tacked on 11 more runs, this time powered by actual contact. Kamryn Baughman delivered the key blow with a three-run single, and additional RBI opportunities were cashed in by Miracle Story (hit by pitch RBI), Kelsey Fargo (hit by pitch RBI), Emmy Hall (walk RBI), Korbyn Anderson (walk RBI), and Jaycie Berry (walk RBI). Another run came in on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Miracle Story.

Dewar’s discipline at the plate was a difference- maker, as they drew a whopping 17 walks throughout the game. Berry and Brooklyn Harvell led the team with three walks apiece, and Harvell also swiped two bases on the day.

— Dewar Highlights
