Athletes succeed at Okemah Cross Country Meet

Athletes from across Okmulgee County represented Dewar, Henryetta, Wilson and Beggs at the Okemah Cross Country Meet, held Aug. 30.

The results are in from the Okemah Cross Country Meet held Aug. 30, and Okmulgee County athletes delivered standout performances across every level of competition – from elementary to varsity. With more than a dozen medals earned and multiple top-5 team finishes, runners from Dewar, Henryetta, Wilson and Beggs showcased their talent, determination and school pride.

Dewar runners turned in some of their strongest performances of the season, with five athletes earning medals for placing in the top 25 of their divisions – most notably senior Parks Coble, who claimed first place in the high school boys 5K, clocking a personal best.

The Henryetta Knights stormed into Okemah and left with a mountain of medals and a couple of team championships in the high school girls and junior high boys divisions. The meet also marked the first-ever 2-mile race for the high school girls and first 5K for the high school boys.
