Virginia Dean (Murrell) Cline, of Sherman, Texas, died on August 9, 2025, at the age of 93, in Bonham, Texas due to complications from vascular disease.
Funeral services will be held at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 2 p.m., with interment at Morris Cemetery in Morris. Family visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
Mrs. Cline was born in Fayetteville, Ark. on November 24, 1931. God blessed her with a stepfather at age four.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Don Reno and Robert Cline, mother and stepfather, Esther and Ben C. Murrell, grandparents Bill and Maude Paschal, and son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Candy Reno.
She is survived by her son, Mike Reno, of Dodd City, Texas.
She was a grandmother to Chris, Brian, Nick,MickeyandMarcy Reno, 12 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She attended schools in Morris and North Texas State University. She was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. for 12 years in Kansas November 24, 1931 – August 9, 2025

She was the City Clerk of LaPorte, Texas from 1969 to 1974. She was in the first class to graduate as a Certified Municipal Clerk from North State University in April 1972. She was elected to the City Council of LaPorte in 1975 and served six years on the Council. In 1982, she was elected to a three-year term as Mayor of LaPorte. The first woman Mayor.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Morris Cemetery in Morris.
