Phyllis Dailene Murphy was born September 11, 1943, in Henryetta to the late Dale and Eula (Watson) Hastey. She passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, in Okmulgee at 81 years of age.
Phyllis grew up in Morris and graduated from Morris High School. She later graduated from Northeastern State University and became an english teacher. Phyllis went on to spend the remainder of her career working in Adult Protective Services for Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She married Orvel Murphy on September 29, 1977, in Henryetta. Phyllis and Orvel were faithful members of Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Phyllis enjoyed being active in her church as well as spending time with family and friends. She and Orvel also enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Orvel Murphy.
Survivors include her children, Stephen Nelson and wife Monica, Lacey LeGall and husband Thierry and Sharolyn Cunningham and companion John Kistler, step-children, Amber Murphy, Wayne Murphy and September 11, 1943 – August 11, 2025
wife Carol and Sharon Cowley, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and siblings, Ronnie Hastey and wife Mary and Glenda Shockley and husband Jim. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Pepper Cayenne.
Viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Hastey Family Cemetery.
