The HoopDreams2030 boys basketball team made an impressive run at the 2024 MAYB Boys Nationals, finishing 6th out of 68 teams after a grueling weekend of play. The tournament, held July 31 through Aug. 3 in Wichita, Kansas featured over 1,000 teams from more than 30 states, making it one of the largest youth basketball events in the country.
At the helm of the standout squad is Coach Andrew Lewis, a proud graduate of Okmulgee High School, Class of 2002, who now channels his passion and knowledge of the game into mentoring young athletes on and off the court.
“The only thing I’m more tired than is proud,” Lewis posted following the final buzzer on Sunday. “HoopDreams2030 competed and played all weekend, seven games in three days while finishing 6th out of 68 at MAYB Nationals. We experienced big wins and learnings (losses), clutch moments and close games. Watching them grow in real time as young players was very rewarding.”
Coach Lewis praised his team’s grit and focus throughout the competition, calling the group “special” and commending their effort, commitment and teamwork. “Great things happen when being locked in. Greater things await,” he added.
The HoopDreams2030 roster includes:
• Treyvin Lopez

• Richard Adjaye, Jr. The team’s success at the MAYB Nationals is a testament to their hard work and to Coach Lewis’s leadership and vision. Held at the Wichita Sports Forum, the tournament gave teams from across the nation a true test of talent, with each entry guaranteed at least four games in the event.
Founded in 1993, MAYB (Mid America Youth Basketball) has grown into one of the largest youth basketball tournament organizers in the country. What began with just 69 teams has now expanded to more than 170 summer tournaments across 27 states and even two foreign countries. With over 3,700 teams participating annually, MAYB offers competitive year-round opportunities for developing athletes.
In addition to the summer tournaments, MAYB now hosts winter and spring seasons to meet growing demand, making it a cornerstone of youth basketball in the U.S. The organization’s mission is to develop young talent, promote sportsmanship and create life-changing experiences through competition.
For Coach Lewis, who once wore the Okmulgee Bulldogs uniform, the opportunity to guide a new generation of athletes is especially meaningful. “As a coach and a former player, watching these young men rise to the occasion, dig deep and grow – both on and off the court – is the most rewarding part,” he said.
The 2024 MAYB Nationals drew teams coast-to-coast to Wichita, transforming the city into a youth basketball epicenter for the weekend. The tournament’s tagline – “30+ states, a true national event” – was lived out in full, with packed gyms, fierce competition and lifelong memories created for players, coaches and families alike.
