Rodeo action returns

The Okmulgee County Roundup Club is gearing up to host one of the most anticipated events of the year – the 70th Annual Roy LeBlanc Okmulgee Invitational Rodeo – scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8-9. Rodeo fans and competitors alike will gather for two nights of thrilling rodeo action, beginning nightly at 8 p.m.

Boasting a total of $12,000 in added prize money, this historic event continues to celebrate its legacy by bringing together top-tier rodeo talent from across the region. Each category in this two-day event offers a substantial payout, underscoring the level of competition that the Roy LeBlanc Invitational attracts year after year.

— Events, Entry Fees & Added Money

Competitors can look forward to a wide array of rodeo events, each offering both glory and generous payouts:

• Open Bull Riding – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Bareback/Ranch Bronc – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Calf Roping – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Steer Wrestling – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Ladies Barrel Racing – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Ladies Steer Undecorating – Entry: $100, Added Money: $1,500

• Team Roping (Enter 3x) – Entry: $140/team, Added Money: $1,500

• Junior Barrels (15 & Under, Aug. 8) – Entry: $50, Added Money: $250

• Junior BAW Roping (15 & Under, Aug. 8) – Entry: $50, Added Money: $250

• Pony Express – Entry: $325/ team, Added Money: $1,000 In addition to these events, Mutton Busting will be part of the excitement. For information on this fan-favorite, contact Kimberly Whayne at 918-9785038.

— Entry Deadline & Payment Information All entry fees must be paid no later than Sunday, Aug. 3, at midnight. Contestants should note that no draw outs will be allowed after Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Participants are urged to include their name and event with their payment or risk their payment being returned. Payment options include:

Important Note for Team Ropers: If full payment for the entire team is not submitted, the money will be refunded. Team names for each run must be clearly listed. • Open Bull Riding is the only open event.

• All other events are invitational only.

• Slack will be run Friday night after the performance.

All contestants must agree to the standard waiver of liability, affirming that they voluntarily participate and release the rodeo management and property owners from any responsibility for injury or damage.
