Henryetta Public Schools continues to shine in the realm of athletics, as multiple coaches were recently recognized by the Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) during its annual summer clinic. The district also welcomed a pair of new coaching staff members, including a seasoned girls basketball coach with more than 500 wins and a former Knight returning home to serve the next generation of student-athletes.

— OCA Awards honor Henryetta excellence

A wave of honors swept through Henryetta’s athletic department this week as several coaches were recognized for their achievements at the regional level.

Leading the way was Coach Dustin Mosco, who was named Region 2 Tennis Coach of the Year, while Coach Kasey Louie Williams earned recognition as 2025 Assistant Tennis Coach of the Year, an award given by the Oklahoma Tennis Coaches Association (OTCA).

“These coaching awards within multiple Henryetta programs are a testament to the great things happening in our athletics department,” said a school district representative. “Knight Nation should be proud!”

In addition to the tennis honors, Coach Tim Gillispie received the Region 2 Track Coach of the Year award, recognizing his leadership in building a competitive and disciplined track and field program.

Likewise, Coach Ryan Swallow was selected as Region 2 Golf Coach of the Year, a nod to his success in developing a thriving golf team that has steadily risen in regional prominence.

— New Lady Knights coach brings Hall of Fame pedigree Among the newest additions to Henryetta’s athletic and academic leadership is Coach Gary Kennemer, who takes the helm as Head Girls Basketball Coach while also serving as Elementary Prin- cipal.

Though his recent Region 2 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year award was earned with his former team in Okemah, the Henryetta community is celebrating the arrival of a coach with an exceptional track record.

With 38 years in education and 33 years as a girls basketball coach, Coach Kennemer brings with him an impressive résumé that includes induction into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, seven state tournament appearances, over 500 career wins and the distinction of coaching numerous players who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.

“I am excited about joining the Henryetta family because I see life being breathed into the school and community,” Kennemer shared. “I hope to lead the girls basketball team to historic success.”

Known for his servant-leader approach, Kennemer said his favorite part of being an educator is “making a difference,” describing his work with students and athletes as his “mission field.”

“We are proud and thankful that our Lady Knights are now under the leadership of this quality, successful, and knowledgeable coach,” said school officials. “Great things are ahead for the program.”

— Knight grad returns home to give back Henryetta also welcomed back Coach Jordan Osterdock, a proud graduate of Henryetta High School, who will serve as a teacher and assistant coach in three sports.

A multi-sport athlete during his own high school years, Osterdock now steps into the role of mentor, excited to guide the next generation of Knights both in the classroom and on the field.

Though he initially pursued a career outside of public education, Osterdock – whose family is deeply rooted in teaching – found himself drawn back to the profession out of a desire to serve students.

“Coach Osterdock expressed that he is glad to be back at his alma mater and is looking forward to helping the students in our community succeed not only in education, but also in their athletic endeavors,” the district shared.

Osterdock brings a hands-on, relatable presence to the coaching staff and is expected to play an important role in building camaraderie, strength and performance across multiple sports programs. When he’s not coaching or teaching, he enjoys spending time outdoors – hunting, fishing or golfing with friends.

— A Growing Legacy of Leadership The recent accolades and staff additions reflect a clear upward trajectory for Henryetta’s athletic programs and educational vision.

With Coach Mosco, Coach Louie, Coach Gillispie, and Coach Swallow earning OCA recognition, and with seasoned leaders like Coach Kennemer and Coach Osterdock joining the fold, Henryetta is poised for a banner year both on and off the field.

The district’s commitment to excellence is evident in both the honors received and the individuals selected to guide students toward success.

“Our vision and Mr. Kennemer’s vision align in making HPS the best it can be in every way,” a statement from the district read. “Great things are ahead!”
