In an extraordinary display of community collaboration and service, volunteers from the American Red Cross Tulsa Area Chapter, Muscogee Nation Gaming Enterprises (MNGE) and Okmulgee Emergency Management joined forces Saturday, July 19, to help protect local families from one of the nation’s most common and deadly disasters: home fires. The event, part of the national Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, was held at the Okmulgee Fire Department, where volunteers gathered between 8 and 11 a.m. before fanning out across neighborhoods to knock on doors, install free smoke alarms, provide safety information and help residents create home fire escape plans.
