Rev. Luddie B. Thompson

Reverend Luddie B. Thompson was born in Taylor, Texas to Luddie, Sr. and Eunice Thompson. He graduated from Altus High School, where he played trombone for the multi-time state champion marching band, and proudly earned a degree from OSU Okmulgee.

His first marriage to Denise Mills brought two sons, Miguel and Jeremy. Later, he married Thedorice “Peaches” Lewis née Thomas, sharing 32 loving years and helping to raise her three sons, Herbert, Jr., Stefan and Julius.

A man of devoted faith, Luddie served as a youth pastor at Eastside COGIC (Okmulgee), a teacher and minister at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Okmulgee), ministered at Ebenezer COGIC (Tukwila, Wash.), where he also served as the instructor of the multi-time state champion junior drill team and as both assistant and youth pastor at Saint Mary’s Christian Center after returning to Okmulgee.

His service extended to the community as a summer aide at Altus Air Force Base and as a substance abuse minister (Come To The Light Ministries) in Seattle. He led prison ministries at McAlester Maximum Security, Mabel Bassett Women’s Prison and Howard McLeod Correctional Center. He also served as Vice President of the NAACP Okmulgee November 8, 1953 – July 9, 2025

He worked for Ball Glass in Okmulgee and Saint-Gobain in Seattle and Sapulpa. There, he operated trains, served as a batch operator and hot end operator and retired in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Luddie, Sr. and Eunice Thompson and two brothers, Hershel Wayne and Ivory D. Thompson.

Luddie leaves behind his loving wife, Peaches Thompson; his children, Miguel Revira (Luz), Jeremy Thompson (Gissel), Herbert Lewis, Jr. (Michelle), Stefan Buckley-Lewis (Chris) and Julius Lewis (Dominique); three grandchildren, Aisha and Adam Carrington, Wayman and Allana Lewis, and Tori and JB Rolland; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Princetta Thomas (Albert) of Little Rock, Ark., Janell Nowlin (Gary) of Ada and Patricia Ann Latimore; one brother, Dr. Thaddyeus Thompson (Shirley); and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
