Okmulgee to be designated as Purple Heart City

The City of Okmulgee is set to receive a significant honor on Saturday, July 19, as it will officially be designated a Purple Heart City. The public ceremony, at First Baptist Church (5th & Seminole) will begin at 10:30 a.m. All veterans are strongly encouraged to attend-especially those who are Purple Heart recipients-as the city formally recognizes its commitment to honoring those wounded or killed in combat in service to the United States.
