Dominance, Determination & Dragon Pride

The 2024-25 athletic year at Dewar Public Schools will be remembered as one of the most successful in school history. Across every sport, Dewar athletes delivered a resounding statement of excellence, finishing the year with a combined record of 151 wins and only 25 losses. It was a banner year defined not just by trophies and championship banners, but by perseverance, passion, and pride that embodies what it means to be part of Dragon Nation.

From the football field to the basketball court, from fast pitch to slow pitch, and from the diamond to the cross-country trail, Dewar athletes not only competed-they conquered. As the final whistle blew and the last games were played, it was clear: 202425 belonged to the Dragons.

— Football: B1 State Champions (12-1)

Capping off an unforgettable fall, the Dewar Dragons football team roared to a 12-1 season and claimed the B1 State Championship. With a high-octane offense, a ferocious defense, and unmatched team chemistry, the Dragons powered through the playoffs and stood atop Class B1.

• Keelan Berry – The Dragons didn’t just win-they dominated. Their title run was a testament to the strength of the program, the dedication of the coaching staff and the unwavering support from the community.

— Fastpitch Softball: State Quarterfinals (37-5) Few teams in the state could match the ferocity and finesse of the Lady Dragons fastpitch softball squad, who stormed through the season to a 37-5 record and a berth in the State Quarterfinals. Ranked No. 3 in Class A at season’s end, this team set a standard of excellence.

— Slowpitch Softball: State Quarterfinals (30-5) The Lady Dragons Slow Pitch team continued the tradition of excellence with a powerful 30-5 record and a trip to the State Quarterfinals in Class 3A. With a balanced roster and standout performances across the board, this team finished ranked No. 5 in the state.

• Emmy Hall – Prue Tournament Home Run Champion -They were a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball, stringing together winning streaks and walk-offs in one of the school’s most consistent slow pitch seasons to date.

— Baseball: Regional Champions & State Appearance (32-2) On the diamond, the Dewar Dragons baseball team left no doubt about their elite status, finishing with a stellar 32-2 record, including a remarkable 27-game win streak, and making their fifth consecutive state tournament appearance.

• Class A-1 Regional Champions

• Finished Ranked #2 in Class A — Player Honors

• Aidan Tomlinson – Perfect Game All-American & All-State

• Luke Hankins – All-State Tournament Team

• Skelly Taylor – Native American All-State -Coach and team proved that championship culture isn’t built overnightit’s sustained through consistent hard work, leadership and execution.

— Boys Basketball: Tournament Champs & Area Appearance (17-8) The Dewar Dragons boys basketball squad energized the court with a 17-8 record, winning key tournaments and advancing deep into the postseason with an Area Tournament appearance.

— Girls Basketball: District Champions (23-2) The Lady Dragons basketball team delivered one of the most dominant performances on the hardwood this year, closing the season with a 23-2 record and capturing multiple titles.

• Skylar Phillips – 1,000 Point Club -With sharp shooting, unselfish play and defensive discipline, this squad captured the heart of the Dewar community while leaving opponents in their wake.

— Cross Country: State Qualifiers & Regional Medalists Often overshadowed, the Dewar Cross Country team quietly put together a season of impressive results, qualifying multiple runners to the state meet and competing with determination through every course and challenge.

• Parks Coble — Top 15 Medalist at Regionals

• Parks Coble -These athletes showed that success isn’t just measured in speed, but in stamina and spirit. Their season was a reminder that champions are built mile by mile.

— Combined Lady Dragons Success: 90 Wins, 13 Losses Combining efforts across fastpitch, slowpitch and basketball, the Lady Dragons compiled an astonishing 90 wins to just 13 losses.

This unmatched record is a reflection of not only the immense talent of Dewar’s female athletes but also the coaching leadership and culture of accountability, work ethic and support that defines Dewar athletics.

— A Legacy Cemented

With 151 total wins across all sports in 2024-25, Dewar’s athletes didn’t just compete-they thrived. Whether it was lifting trophies, cutting down nets, taking the field with grit,or running with purpose through each mile, Dewar athletes brought pride and inspiration to their community.

But even more than records or banners, this season was about resilience, growth, and teamwork. It was about athletes lifting each other up, students representing their school with honor, and a town rallying behind its teams week after week.

As we turn the page to the next athletic year, we do so with excitement, knowing that the foundation has been laid by one of the most accomplished groups in Dewar’s history.

The heart behind the hustle will never go unnoticed. Go Dragons!
