PSO warns area residents of fraudulent utility calls

Residents in the Okmulgee area are being warned of a scam involving fraudulent calls, emails and even in-person visits from individuals posing as representatives of Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO). The utility provider alerts customers across the state to remain vigilant as scammers attempt to extort immediate payments under false pretenses.

— Key Warning Signs

• PSO will never call demanding immediate payment. If you receive such a call, it is a scam.

• Scammers may claim your service will be shut off unless you pay immediately.

• They may contact you by phone, email, or even show up at your home or business.

— What to Do If Contacted

• Phone Call: Hang up immediately.

• Email: Delete the message without replying.

• In-Person Visit: Close the door and do not engage.
