Okmulgee Main Street is set to begin a new chapter with the appointment of Johnna Yoder as its new Director, effective Monday, July 7. Yoder brings with her a wide-ranging background that spans agriculture, nonprofit leadership, project management and global volunteer work.
Originally from a rural dairy farming community in Michigan, just outside a town of 500 residents, Yoder’s upbringing instilled in her the value of hard work and strong community ties. Her academic accomplishments include a Master’s Degree from Loyola University in Chicago and a degree in Mandarin Chinese from TamKang University in Taipei, Taiwan.
Yoder has called Oklahoma home for the past 15 years. Based in Mounds, she owns and operates Fancy Acres, a family ranch where she raises Hereford cattle and Thanksgiving turkeys. As a certified Master Cattleman and trained in permaculture design, she brings a strong understanding of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Her connection to the land and support of local food systems are foundational aspects of her personal and professional life.
In addition to her agricultural endeavors, Yoder has extensive experience in leadership roles, including positions as Manager of Community Engagement and Director of Operations. Her work has spanned event planning, nonprofit administration and program development. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with expertise in overseeing complex projects, securing funding and managing teams through successful outcomes.
Her commitment to service extends beyond the professional realm. Yoder has volunteered with organizations such as Mainsprings in Tanzania, the American Red Cross and Tulsa’s Sister City Partnerships. She currently serves on the Economic Development Committee for Okmulgee Main Street and is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Class 34.
Yoder’s passion for community development, both in rural and urban settings, is reflected in her interest in walkable communities and vibrant downtown districts. Her ability to bridge the worlds of agriculture and civic engagement positions her uniquely to lead Okmulgee Main Street into its next phase of growth and revitalization.
She will begin her role on July 7, and the community is invited to welcome her as she takes the reins of the Main Street program, continuing its mission to preserve and promote the heart of Okmulgee.
