Humane Society to break ground on new adoption center Monday

Okmulgee County Humane Society will break ground on its state-of-the-art pet adoption center and launch a bold new identity – OKCO Humane Society.

Community members, leadership, media and supporters are invited to join the Groundbreaking Celebration on Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at 315 E. 5th Street in Okmulgee, the future home of the new OKCO Adoption Center.

“We invite everyone to join us in this wonderful celebration as we break ground on our new OKCO adoption center,” says Aimee Robinson, board president of OKCO Humane Society. “We could not be more grateful for this transformative chapter for our organization, with immense gratitude to the Sam Viersen Family Foundation and the acquisition of this beautiful downtown historic structure. We look forward to helping more animals in need, serving the community in even more impactful ways, and being an integral part of the continued revitalization of Historic Downtown Okmulgee.”

The event will mark a milestone moment in the organization’s commitment to saving lives and strengthening the bond between pets and people across the region. Attendees will enjoy inspiring remarks and the official unveiling of the new OKCO brand.

Speakers include: • Aimee Robinson, President, OKCO Humane Society Board

• Steven Baldridge, Okmulgee City Councilman

• Mayor Mickey Baldwin, City of Okmulgee

• Audra Fogle, Executive Director, Sam Viersen Family Foundation The new facility is being made possible thanks to the generous support of the Sam Viersen Family Foundation, whose investment will directly impact animal welfare in Okmulgee and beyond.

“We’re proud to support the new Humane Society building in Okmulgee County, helping create a safe and caring space for animals in need,” shares Audra Fogle, Executive Director, Sam Viersen Family Foundation. “This project reflects the Sam Viersen Family Foundation’s commitment to supporting the well-being of our community— four-legged friends included. We’re grateful for the hard work of the Humane Society’s staff and board, and excited for the many opportunities the community will have to come alongside this important effort.”
