Beggs celebrates 125th anniversary

The town of Beggs is preparing for a high-energy weekend packed with small-town charm and family excitement as it celebrates its 125th birthday in style with the return of Beggs Frontier Day tomorrow, June 14, and two nights of action-packed rodeo today and tomorrow.

This year’s events promise something for everyone – whether you’re itching for adrenaline-pumping rodeo thrills, craving funnel cakes and fair vibes or ready to race an outhouse down Main Street. Mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable weekend in Beggs.

Hosted by the Beggs Area Chamber of Commerce, Frontier Day will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Beggs, with festivities kicking off even earlier. At 9 a.m., DJ Bird Lazano will fire up the fun with music as the parade lineup begins.

This year’s celebration will honor the city’s 125year legacy, inviting the community to gather for a commemorative historic group photo at 2 p.m., so don’t forget your lawn chairs and your best smile.

The Beggs Frontier Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow, with a different route in the works. The parade will begin at 7th and Broadway/Alt 75 and will head south on Broadway/Alt 75 to 3rd Street, before turning east or west back to staging area on 7th. The public is invited to line up along Broadway.

— Legendary Outhouse Race returns

The Outhouse Race is one of the most anticipated spectacles of the day, drawing crowds and competitors alike. Teams are required to build a “ridable” outhouse, power it by human effort only (no motors allowed!) and race it to victory. Costumes and creativity are encouraged.

Teams must pre-register by emailing atchamber23@ gmail.com or signing up in person at Club House Leathers and Accessories in Beggs.
