Downtown Okmulgee will come alive with color, music and community pride, as residents gather to celebrate Juneteenth in a special event. The celebration, led by community organizer Rev. Marcus Jeffrey and a coalition of passionate volunteers, offers more than just a festival – it’s a cultural milestone grounded in both reflection and celebration.
Though Juneteenth is officially observed on June 19, organizers in Okmulgee intentionally chose an earlier date to provide a unique space for their own community’s observance.
The Juneteenth Community Celebration will be held from 2-9:30 p.m. A vendor market will open at 2 p.m., followed by a parade and entertainment showcase at 6:30 p.m. Performances will include saxophonist Meech Bagby and Bobby Moffett Jr.’s music group.
