Young anglers in Okmulgee County will get the chance to showcase their fishing skills this summer during the Okmulgee Lions Club’s annual fishing tournament, set for Saturday, from 9-11 a.m. at the first fishing dock at Okmulgee Lake.
This fun-filled, family-friendly event is open to children in two age divisions: 5-8 years old and 9-12 years old. There will be four grand prizes awarded across the age groups, giving young competitors a chance to earn recognition for their catch of the day.
For information, parents or guardians can call or text 918-605-8662 or message the Okmulgee Lions Club via Facebook Messenger.
Organizers emphasize that adults must be present during the tournament and children should bring their own fishing poles.
In addition to the fishing fun, refreshments will be available onsite: water for $1 and burgers and chips for $3 – perfect for a lakeside picnic.
The event promises to be a great way to connect local youth with the outdoors, while also bringing the community together to support a good cause. Volunteers are still needed to help with the event, and donations are welcome to assist with supplies and prizes.
Whether you’re casting a line or cheering on a little angler, mark your calendars for a memorable morning at Okmulgee Lake.
