One of the favorite retreats for my family was Laguna Beach. As you might be able to tell by the name, it was a lagoon. It was connected to the Pacific Ocean, but was protected from the waves. We went there for picnics, holidays, barbecues and even birthday celebrations. It was a fairly safe place for us children because of the calm water. Our parents didn’t have to worry about strong breakers or undertow.
