The countdown to kickoff has officially begun in Morris, where the Eagles are already hard at work preparing for the 2025 football season under the leadership of new Head Coach Jimmy Whitlock. With a blend of tradition and fresh energy, the Eagles are embracing a rigorous schedule of spring practices, summer camps and 7-on-7 competitions - all part of what Whitlock promises will be a focused, physical and fast-paced new chapter for Morris football. The team began its spring football practices earlier this month, with sessions held May 12-14 at and continuing May 19-22 with morning practices beginning at 10 a.m. These early workouts mark the first official look at Whitlock’s squad and give players a chance to begin mastering schemes, building chemistry and setting the tone for the season ahead. Coach Whitlock, who steps into the role with a strong background in high school athletics, emphasized the importance of early preparation, building toughness, accountability and leadership, as the team seeks to get back to their winning ways after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign. A key part of that training will be the Eagles’ participation in the upcoming team camp hosted at Porter on May 27-28. While the specific times are still to be announced, the camp will allow Morris to compete against outside talent and gain valuable live-rep experience heading into the summer break. The Eagles will also take part in weekly 7-on-7 competitions in June, with games scheduled for June 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Hilldale. The contests begin at 11:30 a.m., and the team will depart from the Morris field house at 10:15 a.m. These fast-paced passing games offer players a chance to sharpen timing and coverage skills in a competitive but controlled environment.
