County approves grant project management change
By JUSTUS MOSCO STAFF WRITER

The Okmulgee County Board of County Commissioners held its regular meeting on Monday, moving swiftly through a range of county business.

— CREOKS to oversee opioid abatement grant project management The board approved a request to allow CREOKS to assume project manager responsibilities from OCCJA. A discussion followed regarding contractual documentation.

A county representative explained, “We’re just requesting that we transfer that project manager position from OCCJA to CREOKS. They’ve actually discussed that with us and asked for the transfer.”

Assistant District Attorney Carmen Rainbolt suggested the change could be documented either through a simple addendum, noting, “An addendum would probably be the easiest way of doing it, just to show the change of parties.”

Agenda items approved:

• Minutes from the May 12 meeting

• Blanket Purchase Orders – Approved two PO to Cintas

• Employee Forms – Taylor Thomas, District 2, full-time

• Private Property Agreements – Multiple agreements were approved for ditch work throughout Districts 1 and 2, including properties owned by John Fultz, Kevin Dickens, Marcel Holloway, Mark and Tessa Deckard, Laura Dye, Edie Conley, Raymond Snail and Jennifer Simmons.

• EMS Ambulance Purchase – Tabled

• Lease/Purchase of Wheeled Excavator for District 1 – Approved. The equipment will benefit maintenance and construction projects in the district.

• Bid #9 – 2023 or Newer Truck for Treasurer’s Tax Deputy – One bid was opened and action was taken to move forward.

• Bid #7 – 2023 or Newer 1-Ton Truck for Grayson Fire Department – Approved

• Payment of Claims – Approved — Emergency Management Report

Emergency Management Director Jeffrey Moore reported that the past week was busy with storm response and flood recovery.

“We had our final damage assessment with the State of Oklahoma,” Moore said. “This weekend, we had some severe storms that knocked down trees, mostly in District 2. I appreciate the crews that came out and got those cleaned up.”

He warned of further storms expected later that day: “It’s going to be another significant weather event. I would look anytime after 2 p.m. into the evening. Please stay weather aware today and know where your shelters are.”

— New Business

Two key items were introduced under new business:

• Deposit Authorization for State Funds – Commissioners approved a request to sign paperwork from ODMHSAS to authorize the deposit of state funds into the proper account.

• Muscogee Nation Infrastructure Project Coordination – A project approval letter from the Muscogee Nation was presented for a new bridge replacement and road overlay from Loop 56 near Eagle’s Corner.

– Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, the board will meet Tuesday, May 27, at 9 a.m.
