Color Our World

The Okmulgee Public Library is ready to add color, creativity and fun to your summer with the launch of its 2024 Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World.” This vibrant program is packed with engaging activities, performances and workshops for children and teens, designed to promote literacy, spark imagination and encourage community involvement.

Registration for all events begins on May 21, and activities will kick off shortly after on May 28. Unless otherwise noted, programs are scheduled at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. for ages 5-12, providing flexible options for young participants. Select programs will also cater exclusively to teens in 6th grade and up, giving them a unique space to explore their creativity and learn new skills.

Library officials emphasize that the Summer Reading Program is more than just books – it’s an opportunity for young minds to engage with the world around them through handson learning, interaction with professionals and, of course, plenty of fun.

May 28 – FFFCU (Budget or Bust) Learn smart budgeting skills from FFFCU experts.

• 6th-8th grade @ 1 p.m.

• 9th-12th grade @ 2:30 p.m. — June 4 – Extreme Animals

A fascinating live animal show featuring exotic creatures. — June 11 – Magician Jonathan Meyer Enjoy the magic and mystery of professional magician Jonathan Meyer. — June 18 – Colorful Concert An energetic, interactive music performance sure to get everyone dancing.

— June 25 – Painting Class (Teens Only)

A creative painting session exclusively for teens at 1 p.m. — July 2 – Insect Adventures

Discover the amazing world of bugs in this hands-on educational event.

— July 9 – Emotion in Motion: Colorful Circus

A dynamic show blending circus acts with lessons on expressing emotions.

July 16 – Red Dirt Reptiles

A close-up look at Oklahoma’s native reptiles.

— July 23 – Buckaroo Bart/Rope Show Old West fun with rope tricks and storytelling by Buckaroo Bart.

— July 30 – Bingo (Teens Only)

A teens-only Bingo event with prizes and fun surprises at 1 p.m.

-Registration is required and opens May 21. All events will be held at the Okmulgee Public Library. Age-appropriate sessions and times are noted for certain events.
