Kilhoffer, Lewis power Dragons in 19-1 rout

The Dewar Dragons delivered a statement victory Saturday afternoon, crushing the Laverne Tigers 19-1 behind an explosive offensive performance led by Peyton Kilhoffer and Braelin Lewis.

Kilhoffer hit two home runs and drove in three runs to spark Dewar’s offense, launching solo shots in the second and third innings to ignite the home crowd. Lewis matched Kilhoffer’s longball efforts with a pair of hom- ers of his own and drove in four runs. Dewar totaled 15 hits and scored in every inning they batted.

The Dragons wasted no time taking control. In the bottom of the first, Aidan Tomlinson doubled to drive in a run, followed by RBI hits from Johnathan Wilson and Skelly Taylor. Stoney Yaerger added a sacrifice fly before Lewis and Luke Hankins capped the inning with back-to-back home runs, pushing Dewar’s lead to 8-0.

Dewar tacked on three more in the second inning, highlighted by Kilhoffer’s first homer and Wilson’s RBI double.

The Dragons unleashed a seven-run outburst in the third. Wilson and Kilhoffer each delivered two-run hits, Yaerger knocked in another run with a single, and Lewis crushed his second home run of the day.

On the mound, Stoney Yaerger was dominant. He pitched four innings, allowing only two hits and no runs, while striking out nine and walking one. Luke Hankins closed out the final inning in relief.

Johnathan Wilson went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. Kilhoffer and Taylor also collected multiple hits in the win.

Laverne’s lone run came in the fifth, driven in by Tripp Green. Tatum Nielsen led the Tigers with two hits.
