Okmulgee Main Street has announced the resignation of Executive Director Melinda DeSanto, who will be departing at the end of April to return to Washington state due to family medical needs.
DeSanto, who joined Okmulgee Main Street last year from Washington, quickly became an integral part of the community and the organization’s ongoing revitalization efforts. Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to the Main Street mission.
“I have enjoyed my time in Okmulgee very much,” DeSanto said. “I’m proud to have been a part of such a vibrant community and strong Main Street organization.”
While DeSanto’s decision to step down was not an easy one, she shared that the demands of family caregiving responsibilities made it necessary to reprioritize her commitments.
“Melinda has served the Okmulgee Main Street office very well; she will be greatly missed by those who have worked closely with her on Main Street initiatives,” Andy Goodnight, current president of the Okmulgee Main Street Board of Directors, said. “We wish Melinda and her family well and pray for safe travels as she begins this new chapter.”
DeSanto’s last day in the office will be April 30. Okmulgee Main Street will officially begin its search for a new Executive Director on May 1. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resumes via email to director@okmulgeemainstreet. com. Okmulgee Main Street, part of the larger Main Street America network, plays a vital role in promoting economic growth, historic preservation and community engagement in downtown Okmulgee. The organization remains committed to continuing its mission during this time of transition.
