Despite striking first, the Beggs Lady Demons couldn’t keep up with a steady Mounds offense in an 8-2 defeat on Tuesday.

Beggs took a brief lead in the second inning, but Mounds quickly responded with a fourrun outburst. Pitching woes and timely hits from Mounds allowed the hosts to slowly pull away.

Stella Howell and Lexi Brigance led the Lady Demons with two hits each, while Destiny Chisum and Haylee Baugh drove in Beggs’ two runs.

Ruby Tenison pitched four innings, allowing four runs and striking out two.
