Free burn permits issued April 14-18
By Patrick Ford Editor

Okmulgee residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and take part in Keep Okmulgee Beautiful Week, a community- wide initiative set for April 20-26. The event aims to promote cleanliness, sustainability and civic pride by offering free burn permits and opportunities for responsible waste disposal.

As part of the initiative, the Okmulgee Fire Department will issue free burn permits from April 14-18. Residents can apply for a burn permit and, if approved by the fire department, they can conduct controlled burns at no cost. However, applications will not be accepted after 5 p.m. on Friday, April 18.

– Additional Free Trash Days For those looking to dispose of larger waste items, Okmulgee has designated several free trash disposal days throughout the year on June 14, Sept. 13 and Dec. 6.

On these dates, residents can take their waste to the Okmulgee Landfill between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. They must bring their current residential water bill and ID to participate in the free disposal program.

The Okmulgee Recycle Center will be available to accept paper, plastic, cardboard and metal materials only. Residents are encouraged to use the center to properly dispose of recyclable materials and reduce landfill waste.

The City of Okmulgee extends its gratitude to community businesses and citizens for their participation in maintaining a cleaner, more beautiful city.

The event organizers emphasize the importance of collective efforts in keeping Okmulgee “Proud & Rising.” Residents and businesses are encouraged to take an active role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal of their properties throughout the year.

“Do your part to keep your home and business looking beautiful all year long!”

For more details on Keep Okmulgee Beautiful Week, burn permits and disposal guidelines, residents are advised to contact the City and visit the website at www.okmulgeeonline.com.
