Battling through miserable, rain-soaked conditions on April 3 at the Henryetta Golf Club, the Henryetta High School golf teams showed grit and determination as both the Knights and Lady Knights claimed the Heartland Conference Championships.
Despite the weather challenges, the Knights shot a team score of 355 to top the boys’ division, while the Lady Knights turned in an impressive team total of 395 to win the girls’ title.
Leading the way for the Knights was Brady Norman, who braved the elements to claim Boys Medalist honors. He was joined by three teammates in the Top 10: Nakona Johnson, who placed 3rd; Jacob Pye, finishing 4th; and Lincoln McCarty, who earned 7th place.
On the girls’ side, Breea Stockholm took home Runner-Up honors in a strong field. She was backed by an equally impressive showing from her teammates, with Aubrey McGowin finishing 3rd, Ella Thompson 5th, Maddie Carter 6th, Abby Pemberton 7th and Cialee Watkins rounding out the top ten in 10th place.
The dominant performance from both squads is a testament to the players’ perseverance and preparation, overcoming not only their opponents but also the unfavorable weather conditions to bring home the titles.
The wins mark a strong showing for Henryetta golf as postseason competition looms.
