John L. Wright, age 88, of Okmulgee, passed way Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee. He was born on December 30, 1936, to William and Stella (Scott) Wright in Stroud. John was one of four boys to this family. John graduated high school and joined the National Guard serving his country. John worked in several different fields over his lifetime but he retired working for Walmart as an assembler.
John spent his retirement years tinkering and fixing mowers and fishing boats. There was not much John could not fix. He also loved to hunt and fish. John also liked to make fishing lures. John was a faithful member at Second Baptist Church.
John is preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverley, daughter Teresa Wright and brothers Danny, Scotty and Jerry.
He is survived by son Randy Wright and wife Tona of Okmulgee; daughter Leasa Grimes and husband December 30, 1936 – April 2, 2025
Mike of Sapulpa; stepsons James Reedy and Robert Reedy and wife Robin; grandchildren Carl Wright and wife Jessica, Shannon Calvert, Holly, Shaun, Becky, Rose, Perry and Davey; nieces Penny, Toni and Janie; and eleven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Second Baptist Church, with Pastor Adam Heitt officiating.
