William Lin Paterson

March 8, 1956 – April 2, 2025

William Lin Paterson (better known as Bill), was born on March 8th, 1956, in Okmulgee, to Robert and Lucy Paterson, along with two siblings, a brother, Bob, and a sister, Regina.

He attended school in Okmulgee and was a graduate of Okmulgee High School. Bill also graduated OSU Institute of Technology for Diesel Mechanics. From there he began working for Tom Inman Trucking as a supervisor and diesel mechanic. He left that position to follow his friend, Lucky Miner, in the Insurance Salvage Business, traveling from state to state, until he met the love of his life, Louise, and they said I do. From this union he became a loving father, grandfather, and great grand papa. He worked for Stewart Martin and retired from the City of Okmulgee. In all of his ventures he never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father (Lucy and Robert), by his sister, Regina Mabrey, and a special grandson, Mark Chastain.

He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Louise; two grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt and wife Kim, and Jessica Chastain and spouse Logan Simioni; nine great grandchildren, Branden, Brogan, Brixton, Moon, Ariah, Tucker, Gracie, Asher, and Baylee; brother, Bob; his favorite sister in law, Pearline Jewell; along with many other family member and friends.

For all of you that knew Bill, he was a kind and loving man but was always in charge. If you close your eyes, you can imagine him telling God, “Ok, I’m here now, this is how it needs to be done.” “Do all y’all have gas money?”, and “Make sure Tucker can still find his butt.” were his two biggest worries. Bill is gone from this life but what a reunion he is having in Heaven. You will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 1-7 p.m.with the family present for visitation beginning at 5 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Wagner and Reverend Gus Cosby officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Logan Simoni, Brandon Schmidt, Wayne Jewell, Johnny Schmidt, Brandon Lee Schmidt and Jimmy Gaches. Honorary casket bearers will be Lucky Miner, Jack Boatman and Jack French.

Arrangement’s have been entrusted to the McClendon- Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos, and videos may be shared with the family on Bill’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
