Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Roy Belford
Obituaries

Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Roy Belford

Kenneth (Kenny) Roy Belford, 77, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. to Roy and Maxine Belford, who preceded him in death.

Kenny’s early years were spent in Missouri before his family relocated to Okmulgee. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1964. He went on to attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah before pursuing a successful career in advertising and sales. His career eventually led him to the broadcast industry, where he worked for prominent Oklahoma TV and radio stations and later owned his own marketing company.

Kenny had a deep passion for music, particularly as an avid guitarist. During his teenage years, he played in several rock bands and performed at local venues, even opening for well-known touring acts. His musical talent remained a constant in his life.

Kenny proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years, including active duty, reserves and as a drill instructor, where he rose to the rank of Master Drill Sergeant. While living in OKC, he became an experienced wrestling coach and FILA judge. After retirement, he continued mentoring and coaching young wrestlers in the Tulsa area for several years.

In 2014, Kenny married his loving wife, Susan. They soon relocated to Cape Coral, Fla., where Kenny enjoyed fishing, boating and soaking up the sun at the beach. He avidly followed politics. His insights and opinions were shared online and through political letters to newspapers across Oklahoma and Florida.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Amy (Ray) Schroeder of Southlake, Texas and Carl Belford of OKC; grandchildren, Brooklyn and Ashton Schroeder, Christian, Brayden and Stella Belford; and his brother, Randy Belford of Okmulgee.

A graveside service to honor Kenny’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Okmulgee Cemetery (north section).
