Fatal ATV collision claims life of Okmulgee woman

A fatal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash claimed the life of an Okmulgee woman Friday evening in rural Okmulgee County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on March 29 at approximately 7:11 p.m. along Lincoln Road, just east of 150 Road – about 16 miles west of Okmulgee.

Troopers say a 2021 CFMO Zforce950 side-by- side ATV was involved in the accident. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been publicly identified, as the investigation remains ongoing.

One of the passengers, Kristina Durrence, 52, of Okmulgee, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:29 p.m. by emergency medical personnel. The second occupant, identified as 52-year-old Tobby Appleberg of Skiatook, was not injured in the incident.

The cause of the crash and the condition of the driver at the time of the collision are still under investigation, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Weather conditions were reported to be clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident. The ATV was equipped with seatbelts, but they were not in use, according to the preliminary report.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Patrick Cantrell #410 of the Creek/Okmulgee Detachment, Troop B.
