Dragons, Lady Dragons dominate on the diamond
By Patrick Ford Editor

The Dewar Dragons and Lady Dragons have been on fire as they prepare to host their annual tournaments – the 2025 Dewar Gumbo Slowpitch Tournament April 3-5 and the 40th Annual Dewar Invitational Joe Fowler Gumbo Classic. Both teams have racked up impressive wins over the past week, showcasing dominant performances on both sides of the ball.

— Dragons racking up wins with big offense, lockdown pitching Dewar 10, Savanna 0 On Thursday at the Weleetka Tournament, the Dragons shut out the Savanna Bulldogs 10-0 behind a flawless day at the plate from Aidan Tomlinson, who went 3-for-3 with a double and two singles. Tomlinson set the tone early, scoring in the first and second innings. Peyton Kilhoffer powered the offense with a triple and two hits, while Stoney Yaerger and Tanner Wilson added key RBIs. Kilhoffer also pitched four no-hit innings, striking out seven.

— Dewar 12, Henryetta 0

The Dragons wasted no time on Friday against Henryetta, jumping out with a four-run first inning and adding six more in the second. Skelly Taylor and Braelin Lewis drove in two runs each, while Tomlinson showed patience at the plate with three walks. Taylor also picked up the win, allowing just one hit over three innings.

— Dewar 14, Wilburton 2

Saturday’s showdown with Wilburton was all Dragons again, as they exploded for nine runs in the third inning to secure a 14-2 victory. Johnathan Wilson and Luke Hankins each drove in two runs, and Stoney Yaerger earned the win on the mound with a three-inning, two-hit outing.

The unbeaten Dragons captured the Weleetka Tournament championship with the three wins.

— Lady Dragons blaze past opponents Dewar 12, Henryetta 0

The Lady Dragons delivered a strong performance on Friday, shutting out the Henryetta Lady Knights. Kinsey Maldonado led the way with two hits and three RBIs, while Emma Bear and Emmy Hall added two hits apiece. Cali Thomason allowed just one hit in a complete game win.

— Dewar 17, Okmulgee 2

Bre Harvell had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate in a 17-2 win over Okmulgee. The Lady Dragons erupted for 10 runs in the first inning and followed up with seven more in the second.
