The Preston Pirates capped a spectacular run at the Drumright Baseball Tournament with a commanding 10-0 shutout over the McLoud Redskins in the championship game on Saturday. The Pirates opened tournament play Thursday with a resounding 28-6 rout of host team Drumright, led by a breakout performance from Kaden Dean, who went 3-for-3 with 6 RBIs, including two doubles and a single – all producing two runs each.
Preston scored 11 runs in the first inning alone, fueled by a bases-clearing double by Rickey Hinson, RBI singles from Pepper Gallup and Weston Cope, and walks by Jace Basquez and Jayden Herring with the bases loaded.
In the third, the Pirates erupted again for 14 runs on 10 hits. Key contributors included Bradley Winford, Braxton Clarkson, Gage Ausbrooks, Randell Winford, Dean and Cope.
Pepper Gallup opened the game with a scoreless inning and a strikeout. Karson Herbert pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and fanning four.

Bradley Winford exploded at the plate in Friday’s semifinal against Mounds, driving in five runs on a single and a grand slam. The Pirates posted 10 runs in the opening frame and never looked back.
Preston added eight more runs in the second, including Winford’s grand slam, an RBI triple by Hunter McElhannon and RBI singles by Jace Basquez and Pepper Gallup.
McElhannon was dominant on the mound, allowing no hits over three innings and striking out five.

The Pirates wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard. Kaden Dean was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the first run, followed by a Noah Wilson two-run homer to right field.
In the third, Herring’s grand slam blew the game open, followed by a bases-loaded walk to Dean for the seventh run. Preston added three more in the fourth.
Jace Basquez earned the win on the mound, throwing three shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Herring also picked up the save in relief.
