Helt’s clutch performance propels Demons to dominant win over Comanche
By Patrick Ford Editor

A stellar performance from Landon Helt helped the Beggs Golden Demons cruise to a commanding 15-2 victory over the Comanche Indians on Monday night. Helt led the offensive charge, driving in four runs on three hits, including two crucial tworun doubles in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Demons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, striking early in the first inning when Lane Kelly singled to left field, bringing in Owen Holland on a tag-up play. Beggs extended its lead in the second when Ranson Stephens grounded into a fielder’s choice, and another run crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

The offensive floodgates truly opened in the fourth inning as Beggs exploded for six runs on four hits. Jaxon Remington kicked things off with an RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly from Carson Cooper. Holland tripled to bring in a run, then Helt smacked a two-run double, and Kevin Montgue capped the inning with an RBI single.

The onslaught continued in the fifth as the Demons racked up five more runs. Stephens’ fielder’s choice drove in a run, Holland added an RBI single, Helt delivered another two-run double, and Montgue put the finishing touches on the scoring with an RBI double.

On the mound, Dallas Wilson started for Beggs, tossing two innings, allowing two hits and two runs (one earned), while striking out two. Jaxon Remington came on in relief and was dominant, pitching three scoreless innings, striking out three while not allowing a single hit.

Comanche’s Payton Jones took the loss, surrendering 10 hits and 15 runs (nine earned) over four and twothirds innings, with three strikeouts and three walks.

Beggs totaled 11 hits, with Montgue and Holland each recording multiple hits. The Demons were aggressive on the bases, swiping five stolen bases, with Cooper leading the way with two. The defense was flawless, committing zero errors, and Helt recorded five defensive plays.

Comanche’s Bryson Goedhart provided the only bright spot for the Indians, driving in two runs while going 1-for-2. Goedhart and Cooper Dobbins accounted for Comanche’s only two hits.

The Golden Demons (4-3) now set their sights on Eisenhower, whom they hosted Tuesday.
